Mathematics at Johns Hopkins University

Memories from September 2020 to December 2023.

About this page

This page records my mathematical study at Johns Hopkins University from September 2020 to December 2023. While working, I chose to take no more than one course each semester so that I could give each course the time it deserved. I created this page to preserve that experience and share a small collection of reports and academic records that remain meaningful to me.

Reports

Report I

Study of Sparse High-dimensional Regression Algorithms

Examines sparse regression in high-dimensional settings through theoretical analysis and empirical comparison of LASSO, best subset selection, and optimization-based approaches.

Report II

Study of Bayesian Nonparametric Modeling for Causal Inference

Explores causal effect estimation from observational data using Bayesian Additive Regression Trees (BART), combining theoretical study with implementation from scratch.

Report III

Study of COM-Poisson Regression for Count Data

Examines COM-Poisson regression for count data through theoretical study, model diagnostics, and experiments on a new dataset.

Transcript

I have included my transcript because it reflects the structure of my mathematical training and the progress I made over time.

Study I hoped to continue

After these courses, I still wanted to keep learning. In particular, I hoped to continue with more study in analysis and geometry. However, with other important changes in life, including marriage and a transition in work, I had to stop. Even so, that intention remains part of how I remember this period of study.
